L+M Duo is a marimba and piano duo featuring Laurel Black (marimba) and Marianne Parker (piano). Their mission is to commission, perform, and interpret contemporary classical music, and re-imagine yesterday’s most compelling works.

They are the Ensemble-in-Residence at University of Illinois-Chicago for the 2017-18 season.

The 2017 Contemporary Music Festival at James Madison University featured L+M Duo, where they premiered a new work by Jason Haney.  Other notable venues include New Music Gathering at Bowling Green State University, as well as the Frequency Series at Constellation Chicago and Fourth Presbyterian Church’s Noonday Concert Series on iconic Michigan Avenue.

To date, the duo has commissioned six new works, from Steve Snowden, Rusty Banks, and others, including an exclusive arrangement of Jacob TV’s The Body of your Dreams.

L+M Duo commonly presents performances and masterclasses to composition, percussion, and piano studios throughout the Midwest and Southeast.

Laurel and Marianne each maintain active new music careers in Harrisonburg, VA, and Chicago, respectively.
